Reward

The child raced to finish homework, dreaming of chocolate’s sweet reward. The parent denied the bar - the kid had refused veggies for lunch. The parent lingered longer at work, chasing the raise as reward. The boss denied the hike, they'd to grease the hands of those in power. People in power built a megashrine, seeking votes as reward. The masses denied the votes, they'd felt the crunch of the missing notes The masses ignored the hate around them, eyeing a spot in heaven as reward. God denied the masses their spots, they’d dined from the forbidden pots.

Spare

So tell me why we live longer, Yet the things we do got shorter. Why does it feel like someone taped Your life and put it on fast forward? Hour long recipes have gone instant. Vast courses could now be crashed. The game that we played for five days? Well, five hours now feels a long phase. And don't get me started on relations. From waiting for days for that letter, No reply for minutes leave us in jitter. Our movies got short, Our poems went haiku. From the tales of two cities, We switched to tales terribly tiny. When all we do gets shorter, And we do breathe far longer Wonder what would we do With all the time that's left. Would we look back at things that passed? Or get back and do them all over again?

Just some hot buns,  straight from the oven I was looking, for fresh lettuce Peel the onions, grate the garlic Don't wanna leave the ketchup behind Not a sandwich, not a hotdog Beat the egg, grate the cheese Have a great dip of mayo, take a patty I was making the hamburger Burger, burger Burger, burg, burger Burg-burg-burger, burger, burger Burger, burg, burger Burg-burg-burger, burger, burger Burger, eat the burger French fries and the burger Burger, eat the burger French fries and the burger Kids were eating in the cafes While I was cooking for the masses Who do you think you are? Dreaming 'bout being a big chef They say it's junk food, they say you're cheesy Always ordering egg and cheese Now I'm smiling from the wok while You were paying. Next order, please Burger, burger Burger, burg, burger Burg-burg-burger, burger, burger Burger, burg, burger Burg-burg-burger, burger, burger Burger, eat t...

Udti Patang

1331 Soaring above the clouds, Touching the skies. Raising against the odds, Kissing the winds. Never in the sidelines, Always in the spotlight. Voyaging beyond the string tugging her tight. Higher she flies, Higher she flies. Leaving the onlookers Dazed and confused, Leaving her mark Wherever she chooses. In a field full of hoppers, She jumps and she dances. She looks down at the clouds As she shoots for the stars. Merriment fills their eyes As they look up with dropped jaws The string tugs at her as she strays too far She nods her head and never loses sight Higher she flies, Higher she flies. Spreading joy unbounded Into the skies.

The Trial

'Let the trials begin!' Proclaimed the jury. The accused were brought As the air charged with fury. Spectators were in abundance For, this trial had no precedence. The accused were no mere mortals A beast, metal and a web portal. Trial began for Whatsapp, Accused for several mishaps. 'You spread lies and hate, As innocents faced unlucky fate'. 'Riding their bikes, far they traveled To escape from the rushes and explore the unraveled. Child stealers! You called them. Scared, the natives went for rods and spades. On a dastardly day when "Guest is God" faded. How do you plead, gulity or not?' 'A simpleton I am, I bring people close. Reuniting people with whom they had lost. Harming anyone is not in my code. Though I do get played by people of fraud. I am nothing but a humble messenger Like water, I adapt into what is being entered. Not guilty I plead, though I repent all that has happened.' Exit WhatsApp, enter the gun. ...

Equals

Do you believe in equality? I asked Life. Of course, yes! Life said. You are lying! Said I. For, if you truly did, We would not have been so different. Do you care for equality? I asked the World. Without a doubt! Was the reply. You are lying! Said I. For, if you truly did, Our differences would not have been so stark. Do you stand for equality? It was Humanity’s turn. I am all for it. Came the response. You are lying! Said I. For, if you truly did, We would not be killing our own all the time. Do you value equality? God come next. Why not! I love you all. Stop lying! Said I. For, if you truly did, Bone cancer in infants would have just been a myth. I do. Boomed loud and clear. I turned to face the voice. It was Death who had answered without being asked. Do you? I had to make sure. Good or bad; rich or poor; young or old; When your time comes, I reach out.

Poem: Culinary Love

We were never meant to be together. I am a native. She came from beyond. I am white. She is brown. I am sweet. She is hot. I am dry. She is not. We were never meant to be together. Or so they thought. Without her, I am baked flour. Sans me, she is ignored by all. Despite the odds, forward we did go. She ran through me with vigor. As we drenched in steam. Together we saw, A great union taking birth. It was culinary love.

Poem : Pluviophile

I love you. I love the way you touch, Moist and cool and filled with joy. I love you. I love the way you smell, Fragrance that makes my heart swell. I love you. I love the marks you leave. Just the thoughts of which gifts peace of mind. I love you. Though I don't like your friends all that much, Your friends are too loud and scary. I have always loved you, Right from the days I learnt to sense and feel. I love you, rain
